About Me

My name is Lindsey Tharaldson.  I am a Jesus lover, wife, and homeschooling mom of two! My husband and I live in sunny southern California, only miles from the homes we grew up in. We have been married for 8 years, and are blessed with two beautiful kids and three cute pooches.

I created Sour Apple Studio five years ago while living in this tiny house about 45 minutes from the Panama Canal in the lush country of Panama. My husband and I, and then 6 month old daughter, moved to a little town called La Chorrera to help friends plant a church. It was a life-changing adventure from day 1! We lived in this cute little house for 18 months, during which time I spent my days cleaning and hanging laundry. We had no daytime water supply, no car, and no lack of new friends and smiling faces. Away from home and in desperate need of a creative outlet, I started designing digital invitations and announcements. From there I taught myself blog, boutique and web design. I was utterly blessed with a dear friend and design mentor, who gave me the know-how and confidence I needed to start my own business.

In early 2008, Sour Apple Studio was born. Web design became not only a past-time, but also a passion- an outlet for all the colors and textures and patterns that were swirling around in my head! In the hot, thick, moist air of the Panamanian evenings,  I sat at the desk my husband built for me, creating designs and working with clients back in the states. By the time we moved back to California, I was successfully running my design business and loving every minute of it!

My formal education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a California teaching credential from a beautiful University on the Central Coast of California. I love science. I love teaching. I love middle schoolers (I’m dead serious). But I love design, and being home with my children, more than anything else. Design is truly in my heart, and I plan to create until my mouse-clicker-finger falls off.

So there you have it in a very tiny nutshell. My passion for web design began in Central America and followed me home. The stories of our adventures in Panama are truly entertaining, and if you’re curious you can check out the Panama post archives on my blog. Our current adventures include phonics and the fact that we keep bringing home abandoned dogs on accident (but that’s another story…)

Thanks for stopping by friend!
